VENUE
The conference venue is The National Library of Latvia
Since 2014, the National Library of Latvia is located in the internationally acclaimed Castle of Light building building on Mūkusalas Street 3. The library building was designed by Latvian-born American architect Gunnar Birkerts (USA), and it is among the greatest cultural projects of the 21st century in Latvia.
NB! SUV Bureau/ Board members are meeting on August 21 (14.00-18.00) in the National Archives of Latvia Administration building in OLD TOWN, ŠĶŪŅU IELA 11.
Airport, conference venue and hotels are conveniently connected by bus No 22. Bus stops are located at the front of Schengen Arrival Terminal and at the National Library building. Tickets cost 2 EUR (cash only, coins preferred) if purchased at the driver or 1,15 EUR if purchased at Narvessen kiosk in the Arrival hall. Alternatively participants may use private transfer service. The transfer is bookable via conference registration system.
TRAIN STATION
Riga is reachable by overnight trains from Moscow and St. Petersburg (Russia). Use underground pedestrian walkway to get to 13 Janvara iela public transportation stops. Take a bus No 22, 3, 32, 43, 25, trolleybus 9 or streetcar No 5.
RIGA INTERNATIONAL BUS STATION
Ecolines, LuxExpress , Eurolines serves Riga from the cities of Russia, Belarus, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland and other European countries. Use underground pedestrian walkway to get to 13 Janvara iela public transportation stops. Take a bus No 22, 3, 32, 43, 25, trolleybus 9 or streetcar No 5.
FERRY
Riga is connected by daily overnight cruise ferry with Stockholm. It may be a cheap and efficient option for Scandinavian colleagues as well as colleagues taking intercontinental flights- fares to Stockholm may be considerably cheaper. The ferry terminal is close to the city center. To reach the venue the best option is to use streetcar (No5, direction Ilģuciems) from nearby Kronvalda boulevard.
HOTELS
Conference organizers had made special arrangements with two high class 4* hotels: Radisson Blue Daugava and Bellevue Park Hotel. Hotels are priced 70 and 45 EUR per night and located 5- 15 mins on foot from the conference venue.
